1. First is the lineart, scanned in. Done in pencil, then marked over.
2. Flat base colours have been added and a parchment background. This is all done using Photoshop 7.0.
3. Shading on the rocks, body and wings has been included, as well as some texture for the rock. A different background colour was chosen, to reflect the character's colours better. Some feathers on the forehead and neck have started taking shape.
4. Final finished artwork. Feathers have been added and changed colour a bit. The eye was included. Some light scales have been included, but I don't know how well they appear (I have to lower my laptop to about 30 degrees to see it properly).
I'm quite pleased with it, but critique is welcome. I realise the feathers all look different.. I honestly don't know what I did different each time!! But I think I improved on them anyway. I'm going to need a *lot* of practise with rocks..
Overall the whole piece took me about 15 hours (at least 5 of them feathers).
Hmn...the only critique-y thing I can offer is that the wing membranes need to connect to the body more. (Example: [link] )

Now the movie's turned into a play. Still good, though.

Thanks also for the favourite, and I'm glad you liked how I put it together.
