Description
My second study for this month (previous was pretty shocking and is unfinished in terms of time.. coming later)
Flowing water for and rocks for
Reference: lucieg-stock.deviantart.com/ar…
~2 hrs
What I learned:
- this is HARD.
- Textures are incredibly difficult. Probably something to focus on at the end though.
- Do blobs of colour first, slowly build detail. Make forms then shapes, rough sketch beforehand helps.
- The (default?) round with transparency is pretty decent for rough shapes and colour blending.
- I need to cut down my brushes for speedpainting to a just a few.
- Not sure I have the best setup in photoshop (can't fit both images nicely side by side AND also have panels with navigator/brushes etc)
- I think the colours were ok. Obviously not spot on, but I'm happy with the result.
What I struggled with:
- Getting the right textures (wet, rocks, bubbly)
- Time management - didn't get to details
- Having a brush I could feel comfortable with, but this got better as I got more into it
Areas for improvement:
- Shapes and forms
- Getting rough start down quickly
- Leaving time for details, but not worrying about them during

Nice study! You conveyed the slickness of the wet rocks especially well.
